PRESERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF
CULTURAL MOSAIC

Assam is a colourful land of various faith, language, culture, art, literature etc. This multi coloured culture of Assam is an asset not only for Assam but for the country as a whole. For the allround development of Assam the preservation and development of this multi-coloured culture is a must and Congress party has always laid importance in the preservation of it.
As promised in last elections manifesto, a State Level Cultural Policy was adopted by the Government in 2006.
A corpus fund of Rs. 1 crore has been set up for the welfare of the Assamese artists and their families.
The Congress party has allocated funds for the development of Barduwa Satra and Madhupur Satra of West Bengal established by Srimanta Sankaradeva.
A Satra Preservation Committee under the Directorate of Archeology has also been set up for the preservation of various satras of Assam. This directorate completed the survey in 762 satras and out of which 135 satras has already received financial assistance from the state Government.

NEXT 5 YEARS’ ELECTION PROMISE

+ Construction of Jyoti-Bishnu University at Tezpur will be completed in next 5 years if Congress is voted back to power in the upcoming elections.
+ Jyoti-Bishnu Centers will be set up at selected places of Assam.
+ Construction work of North East Tribal Museum has already begun in Sonapur’s Nazirakhat near Guwahati.
+ The construction work of all ready announced multi facetted cultural organizations (centers) would be completed.
+ One studio and one Tribal Art and Literature Cultural Center would be completed in Kathalguri of Kokrajhar district.
+ The construction work of a new film city would be completed
+ A recording studio in respect of peoples’ artist Kamal Narayan Choudhory would be set up at Rabindra Bhawan, Guwahati.
+ Employment would be increased amongst the youth of Assam and North East through the medium of Doordarshan and Films. A Film and Television Institute is also being built in Changsari’s Silgaon. This institute is modeled upon the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
+ The development schemes taken in hand for the development of Majuli will be implemented in the next 5 years.
+ Construction of a film museum would be completed with the aid of Assam State Film Organization.
+ Monetary grant for the preservation of satras of Assam.
+ Construction of a sports complex at Bongaigaon in memory of Veer Chilaray would be completed.
+ The construction of the 2 auditoriums at Shankardeva Kalakshetra will be completed.
