NEXT 5 YEARS’ ELECTION PROMISES

+ Massive afforestation programmes would be continued further, if Congress party is voted back to power in the coming assembly elections.
+ Plantation of medicinal and aromatic plants project would be implemented.
+ Massive bamboo cultivation programme will be carried out through which the farmers’ families will be benefited.
+ Firm steps will be taken to protect wildlife.
+ Forest Protection Force will be modernized and strengthened through training etc.
+ Land right and ownership would be provided to the remaining families who are covered under the Schedule Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Right) Act 2006.
+ Public awareness would be created for the reduction of global warming by educating them on the beneficial effects of greenhouse for an eco-friendly environment.

RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWERMENT OF PANCHAYATIRAJ SYSTEM


By not holding long overdue panchayat elections the AGP during its tenure made the system redundant. But after Congress came to power in 2001, it revived the panchayati raj system by holding elections twice in last ten years. Through panchayati raj system, the Congress did massive development works in the rural areas vis-a-vis roads, embankments, community halls, village market sheds, schools and other rural infrastructure development works. Moreover, the Congress Government also provided job for 100 days to the poor village people under MNERGA, self-employment programmes through self help groups, construction of dwelling units for poor people were successfully taken up.

NEXT 5 YEARS’ ELECTION PROMISES

· If Congress is voted to power again, in the next 5 years, the party would relentlessly strive to lay a strong edifice in the village planning and development by setting up a Rural Planning and Development Authority.
· More job cards would be provided to jobless poor families under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme and rural road, culverts, agri field protection bundh etc would be taken up.
· Homeless poor families would be provided dwelling units house by the State Government in the line of IAY scheme.
· Beneficiaries under the old age pension scheme would be increased in the coming 5 years and monthly pension would be raised to Rs 500.
· More grants would be provided to each of the self help group under the SGRY programme.
· Self employment avenues for youth would be expanded to cover more and more unemployed youth under Chief Minister’s Jiban Jyoti Swaniyojon Yojona. Intensive training will be imparted to the Panchayat workers and self help groups to increase efficiency and to strengthen the panchayati raj system further
