Lakhimpur and Dhubri will be completed, and courses will be started at Tezpur and Barpeta medical colleges;
+ The work of construction of a Super Speciality Hospital in the premises of the Gauhati Medical College will be completed in the next 5 years along with the construction of the 200-bed cancer hospital;
+ Apart from operationalisation of the 60 Model hospitals undergoing construction in different places of the state, more such model hospitals will be established in the rest of the Assembly constituencies;
+ Monthly remuneration will be given to ASHA workers.
+ Completion of the different schemes undertaken by the Congress Government such as — setting up of B.Sc. Nursing College, ANM and GNM schools;
+ Special treatment camps for children born with heart disease, cleft lips and palates will be continued on regular basis. The programmes for providing poor patients with free pacemakers, heart valves, and free medicines for patients suffering from kidney disease , chemotherapy to cancer patients and free cardiac surgery will be continued;
EMPOWERED WOMEN, EMPOWERED ASSAM
The Indian National Congress since its inception has always been making all-out efforts for empowering women. The total development of the country can never be achieved without active participation of women. Therefore, in order to take women forward in all sectors including education, the Congress party has been implementing various schemes at the national and state levels so that women can participate in the progress of the country at all levels,.
As per the promises on women empowerment made during the last elections by the Congress Party, a large number of women have benefitted through the schemes of providing thread, blankets, mosquito nets, stitching machines, bicycle to the girl students, free cooking gas through Randhanjyoti scheme, one-time aid of Rs 10,000 to the single women under the Chief Minister’s special scheme and financial assistance for the women engaged in knitting, cutting and embroidery work.
OUR ELECTION PROMISES FOR NEXT 5 YEARS
+ A State Women Council will be formed for women empowerment;
+ The Congress party in Assam will also try its utmost for passing of the Bill on women reservation in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha;
+ The rights of women will be ensured by strengthening the Assam Women Commission;
+ In order to prevent any kind of harassment and crime against women, steps will be taken to strengthen the women police cells in each of the police stations. More women police personnel will be posted in the district and sadar police stations;
+ On the basis of necessity, hostels will be constructed at selected places for working women and girl students;
